Canberra Sydney Education Tour 2026

With gratitude to the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program.

On the 3rd of July, 5 teachers and 41 students arrived before dawn at Perth airport to head off on the college’s Canberra tour 2026. While we were away we spent two days in Sydney seeing the sights such as the Opera house, Sydney harbour bridge, Luna park and the Taronga zoo. From Sydney we had a 4 hour bus trip to Canberra.

In Canberra we went to many educational sights. We had the privilege of visiting locations such as Parliament House, Old Parliament house and even meeting the Governor General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms. Sam Mostyn. One afternoon two of our students laid a wreath in the memorial service for a soldier who died in the Second World War. The tour was an excellent opportunity for student to engage in active learning about the wonderful nation we live in and the path we have taken to reach who we are today.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $ 510.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
