Responsive Education
At The King’s College, Responsive Education offers a nurturing and inclusive approach to support students with diverse learning needs. Rooted in Biblical truth and the belief that every child is exceptional, this approach ensures that all students—particularly those at educational risk—are equipped to access the curriculum, belong in community, and flourish both academically and socially.
This whole-school approach is built on a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), using a structured wave and lighthouse model to tailor support according to student needs. It allows for differentiated classroom strategies, targeted intervention, and individualised adjustments developed in partnership with families and allied professionals.
A key element of this approach is the Lighthouse Studio—a calm, low-sensory space in Secondary School designed to support emotional regulation, academic focus, and social connection.
Responsive Education reflect the belief in “regulation before expectation”, offering a dignified space where students can reset and return to learning ready and confident.
The Responsive Education team works alongside classroom teachers to embed inclusive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based practices that reflect the College’s commitment to integrity, leadership, service, and courage. Together, we celebrate the diversity of student strengths and equip all learners to think deeply, live courageously, and thrive as part of an exceptional Christ-centred learning community.
